Breaking the Cycle
I didn't set out to break a generational cycle.
I simply got tired of carrying the pain that had been passed down for generations.
The more I learned about my childhood, my parents, and the generations before them, the more I realized that hurt people often raise hurt people.
At some point, someone has to make a different choice.
For me, that choice was understanding instead of anger, healing instead of hiding, and honesty instead of silence.
The storm may have started before me, but it doesn't have to continue after me.
That's what breaking the cycle looks like.
